John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs that he wrote, many of them situated in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was raised in Roswell New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado. He eventually made his way to Aspen. Denver's state anthems have inspired people to travel to Colorado. I can't think of anyone else who represents Colorado as well as John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a solo artist after having worked in small Folk Music Groups. The track was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the tune in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single the moment he heard it for the first time. Danoff recorded the song within a couple of days of performing on stage in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
